Dale W. Cottam

Dale is admitted to practice in Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah, and has over thirty years of legal experience in business law of all types, including corporate and limited liability company law, real estate, mortgages, and public utilities. Dale was extensively involved in updating and customizing Wyoming’s forward-looking Limited Liability Company Act and the existing Wyoming Business Corporation Act. Dale has been a Fellow in the American College of Mortgage Attorneys since 2013, and was the principal drafter of a Wyoming legislative bill that significantly updated Wyoming’s foreclosure laws. Dale has significant experience obtaining the appointment of receivers to manage and sell distressed real estate, and Dale has served as a co-receiver with his partner, Ronnie Lopez. Dale has also acted as a court-appointed commissioner in real estate partition actions.

Dale was elected by his legal peers to represent them in the American Bar Association House of Delegates, where he served from 2008 to 2016.

Dale has enjoyed many years of professional and community service. He was a board member of the Cheyenne Boys and Girls Club and President during the time when a twelve-acre, multi-building complex was constructed and funded. Dale is married to Tamara O. Cottam, M.D., a family practice physician. They have been blessed with six children, including twin boys.
