Henry F. “Hank" Bailey, Jr. has 45 years of trial and administrative agency experience. He practices personal injury, professional negligence, civil and criminal trials, electric utility, and employment law. As a member of the Wyoming State Bar Association, he has been admitted to practice before all local, state, and federal courts in Wyoming, as well as before the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Bailey is also a member of the Electric Cooperative Bar Association. He has received the Preeminent AV rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Registry, indicating that his peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence and ethical standards.

From 1978 through 1986, Mr. Bailey served as general trial counsel for Union Pacific Railroad Company in Wyoming and was an instructor and invited speaker at the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel. Since 1978 he has tried over one hundred cases to jury verdict or judgment and represented clients in cases in Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Virginia, California, New Mexico, and Washington, D.C. Mr. Bailey has been lead trial counsel in multi-million dollar litigation involving death, personal injury, medical malpractice, malicious prosecution, breach of contract, will and estate contests, and insurance bad faith, including the only case in Wyoming history to result in a jury awarding punitive damages against an elected state official. Mr. Bailey has recovered millions of dollars in compensatory damages for his clients. Mr. Bailey has also successfully defended businesses and institutions, in both state and federal court, against claims asserted in excess of 50 million dollars.

Mr. Bailey's work extends beyond litigation in the courtroom. He has lectured and provided training on a number of legal topics, including employment law, personal injury law, trial practice, and finding a personal/professional balance in an attorney’s life. He has also testified on occasion as an expert witness in legal malpractice cases in both state and federal courts.

A former University of Wyoming basketball player, Mr. Bailey spent nearly three decades volunteering in youth sports programs, including coaching basketball, baseball, and soccer. He served on the board of trustees for Laramie County School District No. 1 for ten years, including a term as chairman. He also served for nine years on the board of directors of Delta Dental of Wyoming, including two years as board treasurer. Mr. Bailey and his wife, Sandy, are the parents of 8 children and 23 grandchildren. Active in his church and community, Mr. Bailey has served as a bishop and stake president in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and as a Boy Scout merit badge counselor. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, writing, hiking with Sandy, and anything involving the family.
